Center for Contemporary Ceramics
The CCC identity is built around the inherent tension between material tradition and contemporary experimentation in the world of ceramics. The system is rooted in the tactile qualities of clay—its texture, weight, and imperfection—while embracing a minimalist, structured design language that speaks to modern craftsmanship.
The visual language draws from material cues: muted, earthy tones inspired by raw clay bodies, slip, and glaze; subtle textural references; and clean typographic structure that mirrors the discipline of ceramic form-making. Layouts lean into clarity and negative space, allowing content to breathe while reflecting the restraint and focus required in ceramics.
A key conceptual driver behind the identity is the motion of the spinning pottery wheel—a symbol of process, repetition, and transformation. The logomark distills this motion into a geometric, circular form, referencing both the rhythm of the wheel and the concentric marks left by the potter’s hand. This subtle movement is echoed across the system, informing iconography, grid structures, and even motion assets.
The logomark itself functions as a visual anchor—a centered, spinning force that reflects CCC’s role as a hub for ceramic innovation, craft, and dialogue. Its simplicity allows it to flex across touchpoints while retaining a sense of materiality and energy.
Ultimately, the identity system balances the raw and the refined, the old and the new—much like the ceramic discipline itself. It positions CCC not just as a space for creation, but as an evolving platform for artistic exchange, experimentation, and mastery.

The project includes a logo, poster series, and merchandise, all designed to reflect the tactile qualities of clay while maintaining a refined, contemporary aesthetic. Thoughtful typography, texture-driven visuals, and a cohesive layout system unify the brand, reinforcing CCC’s role as a hub for innovation, craftsmanship, and artistic exchange.
